Our Story

It started by accident.

Treum Coffee began by accident. During COVID, we left New York City with our two young kids and traveled to Panama with no itinerary — just a desire to explore. Our days were spent wandering through the mountains in search of ancient petroglyphs and traces of the people who lived there thousands of years ago.

One day, while searching for a remote archaeological site near Caldera, Google led us to what looked like someone's house. A local pointed us over an electrified fence, through a field of cows, and along a trail marked by colorful flags. Nearby were the legendary coffee farms of Boquete — mist-covered mountains, volcanic soil, and pristine water producing some of the world's most extraordinary coffees.

Standing there, we realized that great coffee is shaped by more than farming. It carries the character of the land itself. That connection to place is what we search for in every coffee we source.

The Process

Roasted at origin.

Every coffee bean carries the story of the land where it was grown. The more hands it passes through, the more distance there is between that story and your cup.

By roasting where the coffee is grown, we preserve more than freshness — we preserve the energy, character, and integrity of every bean. Fewer stops. Less handling. A shorter journey from fertile soil to your morning ritual.

Our Standard · 86+

Why do we put a number on our coffee?

It's the coffee's Q Grade — the world's standard for coffee quality. We select only coffees that score 84 and higher, placing them among the highest-quality specialty coffees.

Every number reflects a coffee that has passed a rigorous grading process and met our standards for exceptional flavor.
